From Ticking Bomb to Calm Home
A free workshop for parents of primary school children
Simple, powerful techniques to help you stay calm and steady, and to help your child do the same.
Parenting can feel like a pressure cooker
Every child is different. Some children feel big worries or big emotions, and these can show up as meltdowns, refusals, arguments or tears. It often happens at the busiest moments of the day: getting out of the door in the morning, after school, at homework time or at bedtime.
When you’re already tired and stretched thin, calm is hard to find. Home can start to feel like a ticking time bomb, and the stress follows everyone, from the family to the school gate and back again.
Does this sound familiar?
The solution starts with you
The most useful thing for an upset or dysregulated child is a calm, steady adult.
When parents learn simple techniques to manage stress in the moment, family life becomes easier. Instead of a ticking time bomb, home can become a calm, safe place, and everyday moments feel very different.
What you will learn
In one practical session, you will:
• Centre yourself in one minute. A quick practice to steady your nervous system before a tricky moment, during a meltdown, or at the end of a long day.
• Spot stress early. Recognise the first signs of your own stress, so you can stay calm when things go wrong.
• Calm things down. Stay steady in tense moments and calm small upsets before they become big ones.
• Build resilience together. Help you and your child turn stressful moments into confidence and resilience.
The session is hands-on, not a lecture. You’ll leave with tools you can use that same evening.

Why it matters
Calm is catching. When children meet the same calm, steady approach at home and at school, they feel safer and more settled wherever they are.
Discover BEARS
This workshop introduces BEARS, a self-regulation technique I devised that works in under one minute.
BEARS gives parents a simple way to support anxious and dysregulated children, whose worries often show up as challenging behaviour. It starts with the adult’s and the child’s own calm. It helps children take ownership of their responses and builds everyday resilience at home.

About me
I’m Priti, a child behaviour specialist. I have been working with children aged 7 to 12, (particularly those whose behaviour is driven by anxiety), parents and teachers since 2017. I’ve seen how much a calm, confident adult can change a child’s day, and how much support parents and grandparents need to be that adult.
