Neuro Linguistic Programming – NLP
What is NLP?
NLP is a Coaching tool used by practitioners to facilitate change in people for various outcomes. It has been used worldwide since the 1970’s and was co-created by Dr. Richard Bandler and John Grinder after having observed and modelled the best therapists in the industry of personal change and development. In many ways it is very similar to CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) in that people are given strategies and techniques to gain control and regulate their inner emotional state. Most occurrences outside of ourselves are pretty uncontrollable, i.e life happens to all of us at all ages. Life can be difficult at times too, for example, the current Corona Virus Pandemic is the most recent example of this and has resulted in so many new anxieties for children and young people. Therefore, learning and having these strategies at hand can be invaluable. You can read more about NLP here.
The NLP4Kids Franchise was created by Gemma Bailey over 10 years ago. There are now around 24 Practitioners up and down the UK alone. Practitioners work privately in their own clinics, in schools and other organisations with children providing 1-1 therapy and workshops for children and young people facing any of the challenges listed below and more. At NLP4Kids, the tools and techniques from NLP have been modified and adapted in order to make them child and young people friendly. However, this does not mean they are less effective, rather, they are presented in a more fun and accessible format. Once children begin to use the techniques, they can begin to feel empowered to tackle their everyday challenges much more confidently. I am the West Midlands Practitioner for NLP4Kids.
Helping children to become the best version of themselves is such a rewarding job to have. In the session, not only do children work on their thinking patterns through talking and fun activities, but they are also taught some of the tools so that they can use them forever afterwards. NLP is fantastic for creating these new thinking patterns and developing lasting confidence and change for many challenges.
I am based in Kenilworth (Holly Farm Business Park) where I see children in a face to face session. I only offer remote therapy where parents are just too far to travel and so insist.

What can you expect in a therapy session?
Therapy sessions are one hour in duration and I will be working with your child alone. Please do not worry about your child or be offended by this, but children can quite often be rather protective of their parents and do not like to upset them by saying things around them. Sweet, but not helpful to me as a therapist I’m afraid. Parents are welcome to sit outside in the waiting area on the comfy couch, or there is a cafe on the premises too (this closes at 3pm by the way). Please do not leave the area, however, just in case we need you for any reason.
I have provided in the past, 1-1 therapy and workshops for children in school settings. I have worked in quite a few schools across Coventry.
At the moment, I am very busy at my office though and am not taking on any more schools for the time being.
